چکیده

The Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) is considered the gold standard fatigue detection device and is used frequently in fatigue research. With the rapid development of new technologies it is essential to develop PVT available on different platforms such as touchscreen devices. The big advantage of such PVT is that it can be implemented on small devices and can be easily used in field studies. The purpose of this study was to compare a psychomotor vigilance task developed for use on touchscreen devices with the original PVT-192 in conditions of acute sleep loss and circadian desynchronization.

Citicoline Improves Human Vigilance and Visual Working Memory: The Role of Neuronal Activation and Oxidative Stress

Introduction: Psychomotor performance task is used to assess the arousal and cognitive functions of the central nervous system. Alternatively, human visual working memory reflects the capability of the individual’s short-term memory. Psycho-mental stimuli are linked to the stimulation of Malondialdehyde (MDA) formations. Citicoline is a nootropic nucleotide agent with a favorable effect on the ...

Comparing Accounts of Psychomotor Vigilance Impairment Due to Sleep Loss

The effects of fatigue on cognitive processing are not fully understood. Computational modeling research has led to two distinct accounts of fatigue, and specifically its effects on psychomotor vigilance performance, which are both supported by empirical findings. The first account is based on ACT-R and posits that fatigue increases the probability of microlapses. A biomathmatical model of fati...

Prior night sleep duration is associated with psychomotor vigilance in a healthy sample of police academy recruits.

Aviation, military, police, and health care personnel have been particularly interested in the operational impact of sleep restriction and work schedules given the potential severe consequences of making fatigue-related errors. Most studies examining the impact of sleep loss or circadian manipulations have been conducted in controlled laboratory settings using small sample sizes. This study exa...

Fatigue assessment in the field: validation of a hand-held electronic psychomotor vigilance task.

INTRODUCTION In recent years, there has been an increasing need for a reliable and practical tool for assessing fatigue-related impairment in the field. This study investigated the sensitivity of one potential tool, a 5-min version of the psychomotor vigilance task (PVT) specifically designed for use on personal digital assistants (PDA), to 28 h of sustained wakefulness. METHODS There were 15...
